La Valencia

11:17 AM

My parents used to bring my sisters and I here as children on weekends for brunch. The hotel was built in 1926 and still has an air of the old world. The style is that of a combined Mediterranean and Spanish architecture and is painted the most pleasant pale orange-pink that nicely contrasts with the large dark palm trees and the La Jolla shores beyond the balcony.

Hannie and I wanted to take our friend Lavinna to show her around La Jolla and La Valencia Hotel was at the top of our list!

This tower was added in 1937.

Lavina + Hannie in the courtyard. I love the Spanish tile.

Dining room.

I love this converted fountain.
